Without a soundtrack, movies aren’t as effective to the audience. The score of a movie is what helps people feel the emotions intended by the filmmakers. Soundtracks that do this are worth mentioning, due to the fact that not all of them have this effect. Below, we’ve put together a list of the top film scores of all time.
- Tron: Legacy
Unsurprisingly, the composers of this score are Daft Punk. Given the movie’s theme, it makes sense. The score was created using an 85-piece orchestra and includes a mix of electronic and orchestral music. Interestingly enough, the score was created prior to the movie, when typically it is the other way around.
- Back to the Future
The composer for this movie is Alan Silvestri, who has also worked on movies such as Cast Away and The Polar Express. Silvestri did a phenomenal job on this score, which is meant to be for an adventure movie. The theme of the movie has since been used on the Back to the Future sequels as well as the theme park rides.
- Jurassic Park
Nearly everyone in the world can identify the score for Jurassic Park due to the fact that it’s so iconic. It was created by John Williams, who describes the music as “symphonic cartooning.” Williams said that the music for the movie was meant to mimic the movements of the dinosaurs in the film.
- The Lord of the Rings
To say that the score for this movie is epic would be an understatement. It was created with the help of over 400 musicians belonging to the London Philharmonic Orchestra. As a surprise to no one, the score won three Oscars, three Grammys, and two Golden Globes.
- The Pink Panther
Despite the fact that the original movie came out in 1963, the score won a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2001. The theme of the movie is incredibly catchy and beloved by people all over the world.
